Printing Mailbox

Q: What is included in the box with my Printing Mailbox?

A: The following are included:

  • The HP A10 Printing Mailbox.
  • A power cord and adapter.
  • A phone cord.
  • A print cartridge.
  • A sample packageof plain 8.5 x 11-inch paper.
  • The Setup Poster and User Guide.
  • Warranty and other information from HP.

Q: How do I change the print cartridge (ink)?

A: The Printing Mailbox must be plugged in before inserting a new or replacement print cartridge. Once the device is plugged in and the blue Ready light is on, please proceed as follows:

  • Step 1—Open the top cover. Push the cover gently until it stays up. Wait for the printer carriage to move to the right side of the Printing Mailbox.
  • Step 2—Lightly press down on the print cartridge to release it (a), then remove it from the cartridge slot (b) as indicated below.
  • Step 3—Remove the new print cartridge (HP 95 or HP 97) from the protective pouch as indicated below.
  • Step 4—Pull the pink tab to remove the tape from the cartridge as indicated below.
  • Step 5—Place the new cartridge in the empty slot. Push the top part of the cartridge forward until it clicks into place as indicated below.
  • Step 6—Close the top cover.

Q: How should I load paper into the Printing Mailbox?

A: To load paper, please proceed as follows:

  • Step 1—Open the Printing Mailbox cover to reveal the paper tray.
  • Step 2—Tap a stack of 8.5 x 11-inch paper (up to 50 pages) on a flat surface to align the edges.
  • Step 3—Insert the stack of paper into the tray and slide it forward until it stops as indicated below.
  • Step 4—Close the top cover. Note: If the paper light continues to blink, check that the top cover is closed properly.
  • Step 5—Pull out the paper tray extender and flip it open as indicated below.

Q: Can I disconnect the Printing Mailbox from power when it is not in use?

A: The Printing Mailbox must remain plugged in to both a power outlet and your phone line at all times to receive messages.

Q: Does the Printing Mailbox need to stay connected to a phone line at all times?

A: Yes, you must leave the Printing Mailbox connected to the phone line at all times to receive messages.

Q: Where can I buy a replacement print cartridge (ink)?

A: For your convenience, Presto offers HP 95 and HP 97 Tri-Color Print Cartridges for sale online or by phone at (800) 919-3199 between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. (EST) Monday-Friday, and 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (EST), Saturdays and Sundays. HP 95 and HP 97 Tri-Color Print Cartridges can also be found at many local retailers.

Q: Can I use different types of paper, such as photo paper?

A: You cannot use photo paper in the Printing Mailbox. However, The Printing Mailbox does support standard plain, letter-sized (8.5 x 11-inch) paper. You should not use any other types of paper such as cards, envelopes, photo paper, or transparencies.

Q: Can I connect the Printing Mailbox to a computer and use it like a regular printer?

A: The Printing Mailbox has been designed primarily for users who do not have a computer or access to email. Because it works exclusively with Presto, it will only print email, photos, newsletters, and other information sent through the Presto Service.

Q: What are the dimensions of the Printing Mailbox?

A: The Printing Mailbox is designed to be easy to use and maintain, providing easy access for installing ink and paper. It has the following dimensions:

  • Length — 18.4 inches
  • Width — 15 inches
  • Height — 6.5 inches
