Q: How does Presto work?

The Presto Printing Mailbox with Presto Mail service is designed for people who do not use a computer or are not online. Using any email account, family and friends can send email, photos, and PDF documents to the Presto Printing Mailbox user. The Presto Mail service converts regular email and photo attachments into beautiful, easy-to-read color printouts that are automatically delivered to the Printing Mailbox on a daily schedule, just like letters. Q: How easy is it to set up a Printing Mailbox?

Setup is quick and easy! Just plug the Printing Mailbox into a power outlet and an existing analog phone jack. Insert paper and an ink cartridge. Within minutes, your loved ones are ready to receive their first email!

Q: How easy is it to set up Presto Mail service?

Setup generally takes less than five minutes. You can set up the service for someone from your own PC via the Presto website. Or call to have one of our Customer Care representatives set it up for you over the phone.

During setup, you will create the email address for the Printing Mailbox user, specify who can send email, and decide how the printed messages should look—including font size and decorative borders. You can also sign up for articles, recipes, and puzzles from our partners, respected names like the New York Times and Tribune Publishing.

Q: How do I send email and photos to the Printing Mailbox?

Exactly as you would send an email to any email address. Just use your existing email account to send a message to the Presto email address you created during account setup—for example, betty@presto.com. Attach photos or PDF files if you want, and we do the rest! The Presto Mail service formats your messages, and the Printing Mailbox prints them out automatically.

You can also send messages from the PrestoConnect website. From the messages tab you can write a message, attach a photo, apply a template, and schedule message delivery.

Q: How do I know what my email will look like when it is received?

When you send an email to a Presto user, the Presto Mail service formats your messages, and the Printing Mailbox prints them out automatically. You can preview your message prior to sending by clicking here and using the Presto Mail Preview tool.

Q: Does the Printing Mailbox require its own telephone line?

No—a separate phone line is not required. The Printing Mailbox can share the phone jack with your analog telephone. During account setup, you will specify the exact times during the day you want the Printing Mailbox to use the phone line to retrieve messages. The Printing Mailbox will only use the phone line for a few minutes a day—at the times you designate—to check for messages.

Q. I have digital phone service from my cable company. Will Presto work?

A. Presto has been developed and tested to work with traditional (analog) phone lines. Some customers have successfully used Presto with a digital phone line from their cable company. However, due to the many different configurations, adapters and providers, we cannot say with certainty if your particular combination will work. You may need a digital phone line-to-analog converter device.

Q. How do I determine what type of phone service I have?

A. If you are unsure if you have analog, digital, or VoIP service, please contact your phone service provider.

Q: Can Printing Mailbox users reply to email?

Our customers tell us simplicity is what makes Presto so special. Because the Printing Mailbox is a receive-only email service, users do not have the cost and hassles of a computer and Internet account, and do not need to learn to send email or use a keyboard.

Most recipients respond to Presto email the way they're most comfortable—with a phone call. Presto makes this easy to do by printing the sender's telephone number on each email we deliver.

Q: How much does it cost?

The retail price of the Presto Printing Mailbox is just $149.99. We occasionally run special sales. Click here to see the current price. Presto Mail service is just $15.80 per month with an annual subscription ($189.99 per year, no contract required). Monthly service is available for $18.99. Q: What kind of paper and ink are needed for the Printing Mailbox?

Plain 8 1/2 x 11-inch paper is all that's required. The paper tray holds up to 50 sheets—and loading paper takes just seconds. A sample supply of paper is included with the Printing Mailbox. No expensive photo paper is required.

The Printing Mailbox comes with an HP 95 Tri-Color Print Cartridge. You can use either an HP 95 or an HP 97 Tri-Color Print Cartridge. These standard print cartridges are available from the PrestoDirect online store or at most electronics and office-supply stores.

Alternatively, you can subscribe to Presto's Supplies Subscription service, which automatically sends ink and (optionally) paper directly to the Printing Mailbox user when their ink runs low.

Q: Is Presto available outside of the U.S.?

The Printing Mailbox must be connected to a phone line in the United States. However, email can be sent to a Printing Mailbox user from family and friends worldwide.

Q: What does the Printing Mailbox look like?

The Printing Mailbox is designed to fit in well in almost any room in your home. It has the following dimensions:
